Grass-Covered Mouse

gass-covered-mouseJapanese artist Hanaoka has covered a computer mouse in grass. It’s meant to show support for a nonprofit organization called Shibafu Sprit, which aims to make Osaka-area schoolyards green.

The mouse isn’t up for sale yet, but Hanaoka has many other grass covered items for sale at his store. This includes a grass-covered badge for 300 yen (about $3.50) and a grass-covered cell phone strap for 700 yen (about $7.50).

I’m not sure why you would want any kind of grass covered electronic, but I guess if half the proceedings go toward Shibafu Sprit for a good cause, I’ve got no problem with these unique electronics.

Bacteria that Lights Up Around Landmines

bacteria-landminesScientists have just developed a bacteria that lights up around landmines. Tens of thousands of people are killed each year by landmines, along with a grave threat to the ecosystem and wildlife.

The bacteria can be dropped via airplane in extremely sensitive areas. Only a few hours after the drop, the bacteria will then glow green to expose the landmine’s presence. This can be a very valuable asset to the U.S. military.

I have to say the Scientists are playing with fire though. Will this bacteria effect any wildlife, could it possibly mutate? I don’t like messing around with bacteria, but if the Scientists say it is ok, it’s on their conscience.

Walmart Black Firday Ad Leaks Out!

walmart-black-fridayAlready an ad from Walmart has leaked out for Black Friday.

What does the small ad entail? Well you’re able to buy a Magnavox NB500 Blu-ray player for only $78, along with a mess of HDTVs with reasonable pricing.

I’m wondering what else Walmart will have on sale, can’t wait for Black Friday!

The Quad-Core i7 iMac is Super Fast

i7-imacThe iMac with a 2.8GHz Cover i7 processor is 2x to 3x faster than a normal chip. It can overclock itself up to 3.4GHs on whatever single core is in use.

The other thing to realize about these newer Core i7 chips is they have no northbridge—or bus—between the memory and CPU. The memory controller is built right into the processor, and there’s a new tech called QuickPath interconnect which connects the cores in a point-to-point architecture.

Stump Light

stump-lightOut of all the inventions out there, Egg Collective’s Stump Light has to be the dumbest. I mean what’s the point of this, yeah it’s a tree stump and there’s a light bulb in it. I can’t imagine using this in a house, even a cabben, misplace a beer next to it and you have glass everywhere. Especially if you’ve had a few too many, this could possibly electrocute you too.

World’s First Wireless USB Drive

wireless-usb-driveThis is the world’s first Wireless USB drive. I’m not sure what the point of it is? But I guess it’s pretty cool for any Geek who wants to say he has a wireless USB drive. And it costs $500, I think I’ll pass.

Firefox Possibly Coming to Playstation 3

firefox-playstation-3Rumor has it that Firefox browser could be coming to the PS3.

It sounds pretty practical, because browsing the web on a gaming console is so painless and intuitive.

I don’t have a Playstation 3 so I’m not really excited about this news. It would be really great if Microsoft would step up and implement this on the 360.

Accordion Folding Speakers

accordion-speakersNow these are a unique set of speakers, they fold in and out just like an accordion.

These speakers are a great addition for any laptop, making it perfect for school.

Believe or not, the accordion material in back make for a decent resonance chamber, which makes the sound richer than most other small speakers. Just a set of AAA batteries will power up these speakers.

Florian Schärfer’s Alarm Clock Bed

How’s this for an alarm clock, the bed is the alarm clock. The speakers, touch sensitive buttons are integrated right into the bed. So when it comes time for hitting the snooze button or control playback, you’re not reaching or jumping out of bed.

Not a bad concept, but I think it defeats the whole purpose. I remember when I had my alarm clock right next to my bed, all I had to do is reach my arm over and hit the snooze button. I became late for work almost everyday, thus I had to move my alarm clock away from my bed.

Now if they made a feature where the bed would shake when the alarm went off, that would probably work for me. The creator Florian Schärfer should look into that!
